Kunesh has no money to give so you need to take some of his stuff to sell, and you'll have to beat him in a fist fight or intimidate him if you can to get him to do this.
The hilt is easy, just talk to the guards not far from where you start, then head down the hill to speak with Kunesh. You will also need to pick up the Sword Hilt from the castle here. He will ask you to do several things in town including: collecting some money from Kunesh, getting some ale from Bianca and purchasing some Charcoal from a Trader here. Speak with your Father outside of the house in order to begin the quest Unexpected Visit. The game begins in Skalitz inside your house.
